Until this issue, Stork was published only once a year in the spring
semester. I proposed that the group produce a second edition, in the fall
semester, as a way of promoting the organization and the upcoming spring
issue, as well as giving more students an opportunity to be published. So
we developed this “Short-Short Edition.” Because we wanted the books to be
designed and printed as quickly as possible, and I felt the design should
reflect the reserved, stripped down nature of the stories, I developed a
design that exploited only one type family and one color, and that could be
proofed and printed quickly from a digital press nearby.
